In the early nineteenth century, Capri, an island unique in the world for its natural beauty and homeland of Limoncello Di Capri, revealed its vocation in the art of hospitality.
Vincenza Canale, pioneer of the hotel business and owner of the now famous pension Mariantonia, was the first to spread the consumption of limonillo prepared by herself among her guests at the beginning of the 20th century. Well-known personalities and frequent visitors to the island would meet at sunset to taste what would henceforth become universally known as "limoncello".
Continuing the family tradition, in 1988 her descendants founded Limoncello di Capri S.r.l., the first company to patent and use the term limoncello.
It is according to Vincenza Canale's original recipe that has survived intact to this day, that we still produce Limoncello Di Capri today, with an artisanal method and respecting the traditions and flavors of the island of Capri, using only Sorrento I.G.P. lemons.
